Mervis provided in-plant employees to establish a custom-designed system for collecting and segregating scrap right at the presses. They analyzed the manufacturing processes and provided the system and the staff to pick up metal scrap from the presses as raw products were changed, and to collect all of the plastic scrap from the molding machines. By segregating materials, the company realized a significant increase in the value of the scrap and a notable decrease in the amount of material going to the landfill.
As their presence grew, Mervis helped the company reduce manufacturing costs in many areas, including an on-going dismantling project. The company realized a 10 to 1 savings in transportation costs simply by using the Mervis staff to dismantle parts to reduce shipping expenses.
