Going beyond satisfied
Our automotive manufacturing client was very satisfied with the comprehensive scrap management program that Mervis created for them. We handled all of their recyclable products — from steel, plastic, and paper to obsolete equipment — and transported their loose factory clippings for processing. But we soon decided we could go one better.
Mervis proposed a partnership to bring the manufacturer's recycling on-site. We installed a baler at the plant and ran rail tracks directly to it. Now instead of paying to transport scrap by truck every month for processing elsewhere, the company auctions and ships its own mill-ready bundles by rail directly to buyers, at great savings in both dollars and fuel. Because of our belief in the value of long-term partnerships, Mervis amortized the cost of the installation and operating expenses over 15 years.
Now our customer is not just satisfied — they've entrusted us with the scrap recycling work at every one of their support facilities in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
