1. Health Benefits

The current Third Party Administrator for health insurance is PBA, which is well-recognized in the Central Illinois/Indiana area yet allows you to seek medical treatment anywhere in the country. It includes a PPO program that pays 80% after the deductible is met (60% if the service is out-of-network) as well as a prescription drug card. The health insurance plan takes effect on the first day of the month following 60 days of service.

2. Life Insurance

A life insurance benefit for the employee will take effect at the same time health benefits begin. Coverage will be $30,000 Life + $30,000 for Accidental Death and Dismemberment. A company paid life insurance benefit for the employee will take effect on the first of the following month after 60 days of employment.

3. 401K

Employees are enrolled in the Mervis Industries profit sharing and 401K Plan on the first opening date (July 1st or January 1st) following the completion of 120 days of service. The profit sharing plan guarantees a deposit each year equal to 3% of an employee’s annual wages.

4. Employee Assistance Program

Eight free counseling sessions are available to the employee and dependents for each problem they might have in all areas—from personal, financial, or family to difficulties with other employees and supervisors.

5. Paid holidays

Paid holidays are Christmas Day, Labor Day, New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Memorial Day, Friday following Thanksgiving, and July 4th.

6. Vacations

Are determined during the hiring process.

7. Tuition Assistance Program

After an employee has worked for the Company for 6 months, they are eligible for tuition assistance in classes that pertain to the workplace. The Company will provide reimbursement for tuition and books if a grade of C or better is received.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: This job requires the employee to assist mechanics on repairs heavy equipment used in the processing and transport of scrap metals. DUTIES:

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The employee in this position must enjoy working with their hands have an eye for detail and an analytical mind. In addition you must be able to use variety of tools and equipment, ability to read blueprints, recognize welding symbols and specifications. You must also prepare, fabricate and weld various constructions, components and structures from patterns and blueprints using a variety of tools and machines to make metal parts or assemble components.

DUTIES:

  1. Be able to read and interpret blueprints and engineering plans
  2. Fabricate Metal Objects by laying out, cutting, and fitting, measuring and welding metals to create the desired shape or object.
  3. Constantly inspect and test welds and equipment for durability.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: An employee in this position will perform such duties as sort and inspect materials according to type and grade. Clean scrap metal, run crane and other yard equipment. Keep accurate and proper records on classifications of material in the yard. All of these duties may require an employee to lift and move items that might weigh 30 to 50 pounds manually. As in all of the positions at the recycling facility, this employee will be responsible for the everyday housekeeping and maintenance of the equipment that is used.

Non Ferrous Operations Manager

Job Description

Mervis Industries is seeking a Non Ferrous Operations Manager in Danville, Illinois. The employee in this position will oversee multiple non-ferrous locations. The essential functions may include, but not be limited to, supervision of all non-ferrous managers across several locations. Provide guidance to warehouse employees, review the process of grading scrap from both peddlers and industrial accounts, oversee and negotiate the pricing of parts needed for general operation and special projects.

Non Ferrous Operations Manager Duties:

  • Reviews and approves adequate plans for the processing / shipment of material, prepares capital and operational budgets, reviews labor efficiency, engineering effectiveness and customer service.
  • Reviews performance against operating plans and standards. Provides reports to subordinates on the interpretation of results and approves changes in direction of plans.
  • Presents weekly reports on performance as requested by the President or his designate.
  • Defines and recommends objectives in each area of operations. Develops both short-term and long-term plans and programs, together with supporting budget requests and financial estimates.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with corporate department heads in establishing and carrying out responsibilities.
  • Selects and maintains qualified personnel in all positions reporting directly to this manager and recommends compensation for them.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: This job requires the employee to operate an eight inch grinder. Grinding coupler butts back to AAR specifications. This will require the employee to be trained in how to read a specified AAR gauge. It is required that the employee wear a welding jacket/leathers/3M respiratory PPE. The employee will need the stamina to stand and grind for approximately 7.5 hours a day.

DUTIES:

  1. Grinding a 4×4 area to the recommended AAR gauge recommendations.
  2. Welding coupler ends to AAR gauge recommendations.
  3. After coupler is completed the employee must gauge to make sure that it meets the proper specifications.
  4. Housekeeping and any other duty specified by manager.
